FHERITALE: Survey of Research-support Services on Artificial Materials

News | 2024-09-16 | Nunzia Cito

ENEA and IBA Bucarest are taking part in the HEu funded project FHERITALE – Food, health and environment Research Infrastructures to tackle emerging priorities, coordinated by Magnetic Resonance Center CERM/CIRMMP, the Center for research, transfer and higher education at the University of Florence.

FHERITALE project is committed to tackling significant strategic challenges in the domain of artificial materials including plastics, micro-plastics, nano-plastics, and biomaterials, and their effects on food, health, and the environment.

As a partner of the project, a collection of information was started via an online questionnaire for the mapping of facilities, databases or any other service to study the impact of artificial materials on the environment, health and food systems.

Do you have a facility, technique, database or any other service to study the impact of artificial materials on the environment, health and food systems? And do you want to make this service known to other researchers in Europe for this research aim?

If so, please fill in the survey before September 28.

The FHERITALE project aims to map services in Europe that are available to the European Research Community on the emerging topic of research into the impact of artificial materials on health, food systems, and the environment. A broad range of relevant European Research Infrastructures and Research Projects have been asked to fill out this questionnaire to cover a wide spectrum of services. The aim is to create a one-stop shop with a catalogue of existing services in the field of artificial material research.

Are all Artificial Materials in scope?
Yes, all artificial materials are in scope for this survey. Services that investigate micro- and nanoplastics are particularly encouraged to fill out this survey because the EU has defined these materials as an emerging priority (https://environment.ec.europa.eu/strategy/plastics-strategy_en).

What will be done with the survey results?

The outcomes of the survey will be used to make a landscape of available services and it will feed the project discussion on October 14th, 2024, in Utrecht on how to reach FHERITALE’s objectives. These include analysing the current landscape of available services, also beyond its partnership, identifying gaps, and engaging with stakeholders in the research community.
